COMMITMENT: Oregon State lands Grand Canyon OF Josh Wakefield

Oregon State added to their portal class on Monday by picking up arguably their best transfer bat yet as Grand Canyon’s Josh Wakefield announced his commitment to the Beavers.

Wakefield, a 6-foot-1 outfielder originally out of Arizona where he was a high school teammate of AJ Singer, played the first two years of his collegiate career at Iowa Western CC alongside Singer and Oregon State pitching signee Noah Scott.

During his two seasons at Iowa Western Wakefield was a very successful batter, hitting .415 in 79 games with 18 doubles, three triples, three home runs and 43 runs drove in. Wakefield also walked 39 times while striking out just 30 times in two years. A two-way player during his time at Junior College, Wakefield appeared in 8 games on the mound and finished with a 0-1 record and two saves while carrying a 3.86 ERA…
