Four people and a dog were rescued from a fast-moving Arizona river amid monsoon storms on Thursday, officials said.
The Tucson Fire Department said crews were dispatched to a swift water rescue in the Santa Cruz River near Prince Road at around 2:47 p.m. Thursday, and arrived on scene within three minutes. Engine 8, the first to arrive, reported two people and a dog were stranded on islands in the middle of the river.
“The Technical Rescue Team from Station 4 formed a wedge formation to walk into the river, which was above the knee and moving fast, to rescue the two people and their dog,” the fire department said. Rescuers used a throw bag to retrieve a third person from the water. A bystander helped a fourth person out of the water, fire officials said. No injuries were reported…
