Triplet Husband Brings Double Takes and Triple the Fun

Additional Coverage:

My husband, Chris, is an identical triplet. While I’d spent my fair share of time daydreaming about my future partner, nothing could have prepared me for the unique experience of marrying into a trio of identical brothers.

For Chris, having two look-alikes has always been normal. They’re a low-key bunch, so the triplet thing rarely comes up.

Honestly, when we first started dating and lived in different cities, I often forgot about his brothers entirely. But I’d be lying if I said those first few meetings with all three of them weren’t a little strange.

Despite their shared appearance, they have distinct personalities. Their humor often revolves around ribbing each other – my husband loves to jokingly claim the firstborn title (despite being born a mere two minutes before his next brother) and the entire family inheritance. Over time, their individual quirks and characteristics became so clear that I stopped noticing the resemblance unless someone pointed it out.

The public, however, rarely misses it. Stepping out with all three brothers is like entering a different dimension.

Double-takes, pointing, whispering – it’s the full celebrity treatment. People often sheepishly ask, “Are you guys twins?”

And the questions don’t stop there. Once they realize I’m with one of them, the interrogation turns to me.

“Do they play tricks on you?” (No.)

“Are you attracted to the others?” (Definitely not.)

“Do you ever mix them up?” Almost never.

There was that one time when my brother-in-law was living with us, and my husband and he came home for a run within minutes of each other. I playfully complimented the first one back on his physique, only to realize it was the wrong brother.

Awkward, yes, but we all had a good laugh about it.

Living in the same city as one of the brothers presents its own set of challenges. Strangers often mistake Chris for one of his brothers, leading to confused greetings and explanations. One particularly awkward incident involved a coworker of my brother-in-law who saw Chris and me holding hands and spread a rumor about an affair.

Despite the occasional mix-up and stares, most encounters are positive. People are fascinated by identical triplets, and it’s definitely a conversation starter. Some think my experience with my fraternal twin father should have prepared me, but having a 6’5″ husband with two identical copies was a whole new ball game.

Marriage to a triplet has been a fun, if sometimes bizarre, adventure. We have our everyday ups and downs like any other couple, but the triplet factor definitely adds a unique twist. And honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
