Reckless driving stop leads to pursuit; man arrested in Asheville: State Highway Patrol

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — On Monday, July 7, an initial stop for reckless driving in west Asheville turned into a “brief pursuit” before the suspect’s arrest, Lieutenant E. Dowdle with North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.

Dowdle said the “violator” was identified as Derrick Dwight McFee, 59, of Burnsville.

Dowdle said around 4:45 p.m., a State Highway Patrol trooper stopped a car for reckless driving on Patton Avenue. The car stopped in a parking lot near Hazel Mill Road and then McFee “quickly” got out of the car…
