PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A WWII veteran and community leader will be celebrated this Saturday, July 12 in honor of his 100th birthday.
Horace Savage is a Portsmouth native who served in Normandy after D-Day and since retirement from the military, he has dedicated almost 40 years to the Portsmouth Public Schools community as a teacher, coach, and assistant superintendent.

This centennial celebration does not just celebrate Savage and his local impact, but also marks the launch of a scholarship fund in his name to benefit the students of Portsmouth.
