After Ocala-News.com published a story about a new Costco that will open in The Villages soon, Ocala and Marion County residents shared their opinions on the new establishment, with some saying they are excited and others saying it will still be too far. What are your thoughts?
“When I was in the Miami area I had memberships at all three (BJ’s, Costco and Sam’s) as each had something I preferred over the others. Being a resident in Marion County now for eight years, every so often I have sent emails to both BJ’s and Costco telling them that they are missing the boat by not opening clubs in Marion as we are one of the fastest growing counties in the state. I visited the Clermont club once but it was too long a drive. Unfortunately, the new Costco will still be at least an hour away. So, no, I probably will not be going there!” – Carolin Phillips, Dunnellon
“I can’t wait until Costco’s opening. When we lived in California and Pennsylvania, there were Costcos within 10 minutes from the house. Not too long ago, we moved here and looked up where the nearest Costco is and found out it was miles away. We were getting ready to cancel our membership because it doesn’t pay to drive that far to get to the store. Even though we can order online, some things you would rather go to the store and get it yourself. I wish Costco was a little bit closer but this distance is better than it is now.” – Cassandra Martin, Ocala…
