LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Gray Media Group, the parent company of WILX-TV News 10 in Lansing, announced Monday it has entered into an agreement to acquire WSYM-TV FOX 47 as part of a broader station swap with The E.W. Scripps Company.
The deal, which is subject to federal regulatory approval, would pair market leader NBC affiliate WILX with FOX affiliate WSYM. The move is part of a five-market exchange between Gray and Scripps involving stations in Michigan, Louisiana, Colorado, and Idaho.
If approved by the Federal Communications Commission, the acquisition would allow WILX to preserve and expand the local news, weather, sports and entertainment coverage that mid-Michigan has relied on for 66 years.
In addition to acquiring WSYM, Gray will also obtain KATC, an ABC affiliate in Lafayette, Louisiana. Scripps will acquire KKTV in Colorado Springs, Colorado; KKCO/KJCT in Grand Junction, Colorado; and KMVT/KSVT in Twin Falls, Idaho…
