Exclusive: JPD modernizes its crime data reporting with NIBRS certification

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – After five years of failing to provide regular, accurate crime statistics to those who live and work in the state’s largest city, Jackson’s police department has now modernized the way it approaches that crime data with national certification and a promise to share this with the public through the state.

JPD Chief Joseph Wade announced Monday that his department is now NIBRS-compliant, the largest agency in Mississippi to make that switch and change the way it collects and tracks its crimes.
