Lubbock man in Days Inn standoff takes federal guilty plea

LUBBOCK, Texas — A man arrested for a standoff at Days Inn motel in Lubbock last November — Felix Delarosa, 39 — took a federal plea agreement in court on Monday.

Delarosa pleaded guilty to one count of his indictment — Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

EverythingLubbock.com reported previously that Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) special agents were trying to find Delarosa, who had an outstanding parole violation warrant. Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) SWAT team was assisting.

A factual resume obtained by EverythingLubbock.com indicated that after agents and SWAT breached the window of the motel room where Delarosa was located, they heard a gunshot and took cover, beginning the standoff. Delarosa periodically exited the room with a firearm in his waistband. He pointed it at his head and chest at times, the factual resume said.

Next, the Texas Anti-Gang deployed an armored vehicle and a bomb robot. Delarosa shot at the bomb robot, striking the armored vehicle, the factual resume said. Tear gas was then deployed into Delarosa’s room. Law enforcement, assisted by the bomb robot, eventually detained him…
