DENVER (KDVR) — Police have been issuing fewer and fewer citations for illegal fireworks in Denver in recent years.
FOX31 obtained data from the Denver Police Department showing how many citations were issued for fireworks between June 15 and July 6 each year from 2017 to 2025.

Police issued six citations for fireworks from June 15 to July 5 this year, an increase compared to about the same period each year since 2021, but a fraction of what that data point used to be.

According to data from DPD, police issued from 19 to 57 citations between June 15 to July 6 each year from 2017 to 2020. For the same period in 2021, that dropped to two citations.
