Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation closed amid financial mismanagement investigation

RENO, Nev. — The Northern Nevada community is grappling with the sudden closure of the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation (TMPF) and its many programs after it announced the news last week, citing “severe financial mismanagement” by its former executive director, Heidi Anderson.

“The entire staff and the Americorps members received an email on Tuesday, July 1, sometime in the afternoon from the board of directors telling us that they were ceasing all operations immediately, laying off all staff, and so that means that we were all just put kind of out of work all of a sudden with not much lead time,” former TMPF employee Kevin Lynch said.

On our Facebook post about the closure, one viewer wrote, “it’s so sad that this happened. They were a great organization.” Another wrote, in part, “I’m really sorry for the kids and families. Sounds like arrests need to happen.”…
