The show was cancelled, and several beaches in the area were temporarily closed. According to a press release from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, all the fireworks found on the upright pieces of the barge were recovered from the Lake, and the organizers of the fireworks show, Incline Fireworks, are actively working with private salvage partners to recover the remaining pieces of the barge.The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District (NLTFPD) confirmed to the Reno Gazette Journalthat there had been around 1,200 fireworks on the barge before it sank.While the Sheriff’s Office did note that there is no current threat to public safety, they have warned the public to stay away from any suspected fireworks washing up on shore and to report any undetonated fireworks found near the Lake. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and bomb squad worked to secure the area.
