Man accused of assault during protest outside Newport City Hall

NEWBERG, Ore. (KATU) — Police in Newport have arrested a 41-year-old man who they said assaulted a man participating in a protest outside City Hall, according to the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office.

On July 1, a grand jury indicted Jacob Busch on charges that included second- and fourth-degree assault.

Prosecutors allege Busch got out of his car, ran over to the protesters and used his chest to push a 74-year-old Army veteran. The veteran fell to the ground, striking his head on the concrete sidewalk. He was taken to the hospital…
