Good-bye Mongolian grill, hello Thai food. New restaurant opens in Gig Harbor

Wok on Fire Asian BBQ, previously a Mongolian grill that operated for 10 years at Olympic Village in Gig Harbor, has reopened as a Thai restaurant under new ownership.

The Thai restaurant’s first day at 5500 Olympic Dr., A-109, was June 27, owner Joy Allen told The News Tribune. The menu includes pad thai, stir-fried entrees, soups, salads, fried rice, curries with desserts including black rice pudding and (seasonally) mango sticky rice. Customers also can order online for pick up or delivery. Appetizers range from $8 to $11.50 and main dishes from $15.99 to $20.

Allen said she will probably change the name of the restaurant to Thai Lime Leaf when she can afford a new sign. Thai Lime Leaf is the name of her other restaurant in Everett, which offers the same menu.

Asked the reason she decided to open a new restaurant in Gig Harbor, Allen said she loves the area. A friend of Allen’s told her about the previous restaurant listing for sale, noticing there wasn’t another Thai restaurant in that area and suggesting “maybe it will be good business,” Allen said…
