ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A group of volunteers in Anchorage came together to clean up Davis Park on Monday, after the abatement of the homeless encampment in Mountain View on June 17.
The volunteer effort was organized by Parks and Recreation’s “Healthy Spaces” crew, who said it is part of an effort to “reactivate” the park. Previous municipal crews had already cleared the park of hazardous materials, including things like needles and other sharp objects.
“For me personally, I’m hoping for our volunteers to come out here and see how much our ‘Healthy Spaces’ team has already done… to be like, ‘oh, this is actually looking really great!’,” said Ellen Devine, communications director for Anchorage Parks and Recreation…
