Woman, 94, dies from Maili wildfire; HFD continues investigation

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Officials from the City and County of Honolulu confirmed that the 94-year-old woman who was taken to the hospital by Emergency Medical Services for smoke inhalation on Sunday, has passed away.

HFD: Maili wildfire now 75% contained

HFD declared the Māʻili wildfire fully contained at 1:24 a.m. on July 7.

The fire initially broke out around 2:30 p.m. on July 6. At one point, HFD said there were up to 31 units responding; including two helicopters and federal firefighters.
