Horry County chase ends with vehicle in Little Pee Dee River, authorities say

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A Monday car chase ended with a vehicle in the Little Pee Dee River, according to Horry County police and fire rescue authorities.

Officers attempted to make a traffic stop around 9:45 p.m. near Hwy. 501 and Waccamaw Pines Drive when the driver fled the stop and led police along Hwy. 501 to Hwy. 378.

The driver then drove down Pitts Landing off of Hwy. 378 and into the Little Pee Dee River. Two people swam to shore from the car and were detained. The driver is believed to have made it to shore and run away, according to police.

Boats and drones were on the scene helping with search efforts, and the two detained were uninjured, fire rescue said…
