Charges announced after Allegheny County man communicated with ‘minor’

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — An Allegheny County man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly communicated online with who he thought was a 12-year-old girl, Attorney General Dave Sunday announced.

Lane Alan Simpson, 40, has been charged with felony counts of unlawful contact with a minor, criminal attempt to commit rape of a child, and other related offenses after he allegedly communicated with an Office of Attorney General agent posing as the child’s mother and agreeing to pay money to have contact with the “child”.

Simpson, according to AG Sunday, agreed to pay cash for sexual acts and would later go to a location to meet with the “child”. He allegedly had the pre-arranged amount of money for payment, condoms, and candy that he was told the minor would like on his person. It was at this proposed meeting that he was taken into custody…
