Crime in Rochester is down. Leaders provide update on public safety initiatives

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The City of Rochester shared an update on its public safety initiatives.

Mayor Evans shared statistics regarding crime in Rochester — he says the number of shootings and shooting injuries is continuing to go down, but he is not satisfied. Chief Smith also shared that nine of the 15 homicide cases are closed, there is a 40% decrease in burglaries, and 322 guns were taken off the streets in Rochester.

“The numbers are going in the right direction, but we still have a lot more work to do as it relates to, particularly shootings,” Evans said…
