Passengers no longer required to remove shoes at Sacramento airport

(FOX40.COM) —Passengers at Sacramento International Airport are no longer required to remove their shoes for security as of Monday, a spokesperson for the airport said.

The policy has been in place for over two decades and was originally in response to a man who attempted to detonate explosive material hidden in his shoes during a December 2001 flight from Paris to Miami.
