JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – A Cedar Rapids man was booked into Johnson County jail Monday night, two years after he allegedly shot a man on Highway 218 and then held another man at gunpoint, forcing him to drive him to Illinois.
On July 2, 2023, Lamont’e O’Neal was in the backseat of a car when he got into an argument with a front seat passenger. He pointed a gun at the passenger, and took his phone from him. When the passenger turned around to retrieve the phone, O’Neal shot him in the stomach.
O’Neal then instructed the driver to pull over and leave the passenger on the side of the road. O’Neal forced the passenger out of the car, and pointed his gun at the driver, telling him to take him to Peoria, Illinois. O’Neal also took the driver’s phone after holding him at gunpoint…
