With a 40 percent chance of rain forecasted, primarily post-4 p.m. today, residents might get some relief from the heat that’s been steadily climbing. According to the National Weather Service, today’s high could reach a scorching 98 degrees, dipping to a low of 77 tonight.

The possibility of precipitation continues into the evening, with the NWS calling for a 50 percent chance of storms, “mainly before 9 pm.” Though rain might offer a temporary respite, it’s expected to bring less than a tenth of an inch of new precipitation.
