Four-star safety Donovan Webb dives into Texas Tech pledge

Independence Day always brings excitement, but for Texas Tech the fireworks got started early last week with the commitment of Frisco (TX) Panther Creek safety Donovan Webb. Webb was one of three blue chip recruits to commit to the Red Raiders in three consecutive days, joining running back Ace Rowden and offensive tackle Felix Ojo.

Webb started the festivities, announcing his pledge to the Scarlet and Black on Wednesday, July 2nd. Webb chose Texas Tech over a final group that also included Michigan, Kansas State and Notre Dame.

Though Michigan was seen as the favorite to land Webb’s services the last few weeks, the Red Raider coaches’ relentless pursuit – led by safeties coach Rob Greene – eventually led to the talented defensive back staying in his home state…
