The local nonprofit SEBCO is working to find people affordable, quality apartments.
The organization houses close to 10,000 Bronx residents in over 40 buildings throughout the borough. SEBCO also rennovates older buildings and units and oversees shelters in the area. “We’ve built a working class neighborhood, helped sustain a working class neighborhood. We fight for the community, the people that have been here through the good times, the hard times,” said Salvatore Gigante, the CEO of SEBCO. “The South Bronx has for years has been known as a blighted community and to see the robust development that is happening, quality housing, real, true, affordable housing is imperative,” said Angela Davis-Farrish, the executive director of SEBCO. SEBCO is building over 130 units for seniors in its newest project called Crotona Belmont. It will be an 100% affordable apartment building with supportive units and ADA accessible units.
