Cooling centers open in NYC for pet owners during heatwave

NEW YORK (PIX11) — As the heat and humidity continue, New Yorkers have various options to cool down.

During periods of extreme heat, cooling centers will open throughout New York, providing spaces with air conditioning.

“Know your cool options, whether it’s your own home, the home of a friend or family member with an air conditioner, a mall, a library, a museum, or an official city cooling center,” Mayor Eric Adams said Saturday.

The city provides the following indoor cooling options for pet owners. Pet owners should call ahead before visiting.
