Camp Mystic mom from San Antonio tells of daughters’ escape from flood

A San Antonio mother of two girls evacuated from the deadly flooding at Camp Mystic provided harrowing details of their escape from the floodwaters, saying counselors in her 9-year-old’s cabin “saved all those girls’ lives” by breaking a window after water had risen to the front door.

Even in a safer area where her 12-year-old was staying at the camp, rising currents “started to come into her cabin a little bit,” Serena Aldrich told the cable news network NewsNation.

Of about 750 girls and counselors at the camp heading into the July Fourth weekend, at least 27 have died, camp officials said. Five campers and one counselor from Camp Mystic were still missing as of Tuesday afternoon, authorities said…
