Troy officials report decreased shots fired incidents, other crime in press conference

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Troy officials held a press conference on Wednesday to provide an update on the city’s several public safety efforts. Mayor Carmella Mantello was joined by Troy Police Chief Dan DeWolf and other law enforcement and city officials.

During Wednesday’s press conference, Mantello went over the latest statistics for Operation Sentinel — an initiative launched in 2024 to gather intelligence and data on city crime — and Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE). According to the mayor, shots fired incidents are

Additionally, since the start of Operation Sentinel, the city has seen 79 arrests, 12 executed search warrants, six recovered firearms, nearly $16 million in seized cash. Over four pounds of cocaine, seven pounds of ecstasy and additional amounts of heroin, fentanyl and psilocybin mushrooms were seized.

According to the mayor, shots fired incidents are down 22% compared to last year, shootings are down 51% year-over-year and violent crime is done 16% from 2024. Property crime is also reportedly down 25%…
