BALTIMORE, Md. (DC News Now) — One of the oldest air traffic control towers in the country is now getting a new look.
On Monday, Maryland transportation leaders broke ground on a new, state-of-the-art air traffic control tower at Martin State Airport (MTN). The new facility will replace the airport’s existing tower, which was built in 1942.
Officials noted that the newly built tower is designed to improve visibility and accommodate personnel alongside modern air traffic management technologies. The $22.2 million project is also expected to strengthen safety and efficiency for both air traffic controllers and pilots.
