MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Drivers could soon be paying more to retrieve vehicles ordered towed by the city.
The Mobile City Council is considering an overhaul of its ordinance regulating the wrecker companies that the city uses to remove vehicles involved in accidents and vehicles removed for other reasons. Lt. John Angle, who is with the Mobile Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit, said participating companies are allowed to charge a variety of fees. He said the average cost is about $150.
