El Paso Fire: No emergency with smoke from refinery

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Black smoke could be seen for miles on Tuesday evening, July 8 from the Marathon El Paso Refinery in South-Central El Paso.

El Paso Fire confirmed that the smoke was coming from the plant, but said that there is no emergency.

“The three smoke stacks running are considered normal procedure,” a spokesperson for El Paso Fire said.

Marathon has its own fire department if a response is needed, but this is not an emergency situation, the spokesperson said…
