11 Puppies Found Abandoned in Kansas Crate Ahead of Storm—All Rescued

Just before a storm swept through Shawnee, Kansas, a concerned passerby noticed something strange near a busy intersection. A large plastic crate sat close to the road. Inside it were 11 tiny puppies, barely old enough to be on their own.

The puppies were huddled together, confused and shivering. They had no food, no water, and no shelter from the coming rain. It wasn’t clear how long they’d been trapped there, but one thing was certain—they had been abandoned and needed help fast.

The Good Samaritan didn’t hesitate. They gently lifted the crate into their car and drove straight to Great Plains SPCA (GPSPCA), a shelter known for helping animals in urgent need.

Racing Against the Rain

The puppies arrived at GPSPCA around 9 a.m.—two hours before the shelter opened. The staff acted quickly, but a serious concern slowed their intake. At the time, the shelter was dealing with an outbreak of parvovirus, a dangerous and highly contagious illness in puppies…
