Over 20,000 Delta Sigma Theta Sorors Unite in Washington D.C. for Sorority’s 57th National Convention

Starting today, Washington, D.C. transforms into a sea of crimson and cream as Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated kicks off its 57th National Convention. From July 8–13, 2025, more than 20,000 members of the international sisterhood will gather at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, joined by an additional 13,000 sorors participating virtually, making this one of the largest and most anticipated conventions in the organization’s 112-year history.

Founded in 1913 on the campus of Howard University by 22 visionary Black women, Delta Sigma Theta has built a legacy of unwavering scholarship, sisterhood, service, and social action. That legacy takes center stage this week as members from across the globe convene under the theme: “Forward with Fortitude: A Homecoming of Strength and Purpose.”

“It is my honor to welcome our dynamic sisterhood to the 57th National Convention of Delta Sigma Theta,” said International President Elsie Cooke-Holmes. “We honor our origin and our future through our theme.
