ALBANY — The Capital Concert Series continues Wednesday, July 9, with a celebration of old-school hip-hop featuring Doug E. Fresh and Nice & Smooth.
The free show, presented by Miller Lite and the New York State Office of General Services, takes place on the main stage at Empire State Plaza in Albany and includes a 518 Local DJ Battle to showcase regional turntable talent. The event is part of a statewide initiative to support music and cultural programming throughout the summer.
Known as the “Human Beatbox,” Doug E. Fresh helped pioneer hip-hop’s early years with his beatboxing mastery and hits like “The Show” and “La Di Da Di.” He will be joined by Nice & Smooth, the legendary duo whose clever wordplay and laid-back flows made them standouts in the 1990s.
