SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Wednesday is a transition day as the ridge of high pressure over south Florida shifts its axis northward. Winds will still be generally out of the west and northwest, pushing storms eastward and away from the coast. This will keep rain chances low, around 20% in coastal areas and 40% inland.
Temperatures will be in the mid-70s to start the day before climbing into the low 90s in the afternoon. Heat indices will surpass 100 degrees throughout the area, so make sure to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen when you’re outside.
Boaters can expect winds out of the northwest on Wednesday at 5-10 knots, with seas 1 foot or less and a light chop. 20% chance of showers and storms, primarily in the morning.
