Suspect arrested in 4th of July Oakland house party homicide identified

(KRON) — A man who was arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of a man at a Fourth of July house party in Oakland has been identified. According to the Oakland Police Department, Dwane Stewart was arrested in connection to the killing of Timothy Conover on July 5 at a residence in the 800 block of 41st Street.

At the time, Conover was hosting a Fourth of July party and serving as grill master, according to his fiancée, Zazzi Cribbs. The suspect in the shooting, later identified as Stewart, was described by Cribbs as a neighbor and close family friend.

OPD responded to the shooting at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday. According to Cribbs, the confrontation began when Conover approached Stewart about urinating on the floor of the residence.

“Just wanted his friend to lay down to go to sleep and just sleep it off, but his friend got mad because he peed in our living room,” Cribbs explained…
