Regional: Petaluma Felon Accused Of Providing Drugs That Led To Overdose

Deputies in Marin County arrested a Petaluma man on suspicion of providing narcotics to someone who overdosed, according to the county sheriff’s office.

In June, detectives with the Sheriff’s Office carried out a follow-up investigation into a suspected opiate overdose in San Rafael. Michael Maffei, 46, was identified as the suspect and a search warrant was issued for his residence, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Tuesday.

On July 2, Marin detectives executed the search warrant in the 2000 block of Old Adobe Road in Petaluma and arrested Maffei on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, furnishing a controlled substance that caused great bodily injury, possession of hard drugs with two previous convictions, and other narcotics and firearm related crimes…
