KEACHI, La. — A DeSoto Parish roadway has reopened after being closed for cleanup after an 18-wheeler hauling saltwater overturned after being rear-ended near Keachi.
The crash happened at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday morning at the intersection of Smyrna Road and state Highway 5. DeSoto Fire District No. 2, DeSoto Parish EMS and DeSoto Parish sheriff’s deputies responded and found a heavily-damaged 18-wheeler on its side on the edge of the woods.
The driver, who had been helped out of the cab through a window, suffered head injuries and was taken by DeSoto EMS to Ochsner LSU Health for evaluation. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
