Man charged in fatal stabbing at Promenade Park found guilty

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — 23-year-old Lamont Cooley, who was charged with murder for a fatal stabbing at Promenade Park in January, has been found guilty.

Cooley claimed he stabbed and killed 48-year-old Anthony “Africa” Wamue on Jan. 4 because he was harassing a woman in the bathroom. Wamue would later be found dead at the scene with multiple stab wounds to his torso.

The woman, known as 38-year-old Brandi Summers, was found guilty in May of assisting a criminal who committed murder and is serving a 6-year sentence in prison.

According to court documents, Summers, Cooley, and another unnamed man were seen entering and exiting the bathroom several times in surveillance camera footage. In the video, Summers is seen throwing the knife out of the bathroom, the knife matching the one Cooley was found with at the time of his arrest, and what he admitted to using against Wamue…
