GREENSBORO, N.C. — Technology can be a powerful tool, especially when it comes to keeping public and private spaces secure. But sometimes, even high-tech systems get it wrong.
That’s what happened to Joseph Tiska, a longtime volunteer at The Forge, a non-profit makerspace in downtown Greensboro. Tiska has driven the same path to work for a decade, cutting briefly through a nearby parking lot on his way in. The lot is equipped with automated cameras that photograph vehicles entering and exiting.
