Man admits to doing meth before hitting Myrtle Beach officer during Ocean Boulevard chase, reports say

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A man accused of hitting a Myrtle Beach police officer on a bicycle during a chase last week admitted to using methamphetamine before the incident and said he smoked crack “to pass the time,” according to incident reports obtained by News13.

Timothy Elbert Aland, 40, was charged with assault of a high and aggravated nature, failure to stop for a blue light, third-offense possession of cocaine, simple possession of marijuana, DUI, resisting arrest, passing unlawfully on the left, reckless driving, and first-offense driving without a license.

An officer patrolling the area of 1200 N. Ocean Blvd. at about 9 p.m. on July 3 noticed a white Toyota 4Runner driving north on Ocean Boulevard unlawfully pass a vehicle on the left “in an aggressive manner,” the report reads. The officer told Aland, who was the only person in the vehicle, that he was being stopped for a traffic violation, but Aland only cracked his window and ignored the officer’s commands to exit his vehicle…
