The San José Police Department has made a significant breakthrough in recent vehicle burglaries that turned violent in May this year. According to a report released by SJPD, two men have been apprehended and are now facing charges, including assault with a deadly weapon.
On May 2, two suspects were interrupted while attempting to burglarize a car in San José. The confrontation by the vehicle’s owner led to one of the suspects firing a gun at the victim. No injury was reported, but the suspects, who were later identified as Mynnor Ramos-Martinez and Cesar Lopez-Martinez, both 28 and residents of Oakland, managed to flee with stolen work tools. A second similar incident was reported on May 25, where the suspects again shot at a victim who caught them in the act of breaking into his vehicles.
San José’s Robbery Unit Detectives undertook a comprehensive investigation following these incidents. Their efforts paid off when they discovered the suspects had stolen another vehicle the morning of the first burglary, using it to facilitate their crimes. With an arrest warrant in hand, and after obtaining a search warrant for the suspects’ residence, the Detectives, assisted by the SJPD Covert Response Unit, were able to locate and arrest both men in Oakland on June 24…
