Woman Arrested for Operating Illegal Med Spa Out of Backyard Shed, Causing Facial Paralysis

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – A multi-agency investigation has led to the arrest of Rosa Mena, 50, after a botched Botox injection allegedly left a victim with facial paralysis from her makeshift backyard “Med Spa” shed. Mena is facing multiple charges, including aggravated battery and practicing medicine without a license.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) received a report in May 2025 from a victim who suspected she had received treatment at an illegal Med Spa from an unlicensed medical “professional.” The victim experienced facial paralysis after receiving an injection at Mena’s shed. When confronted about the injuries, Mena refunded the $325, but then had the victim return for another injection, this time with vitamins, supposedly to “reverse” the effects.

Still experiencing paralysis, the victim requested to see Mena’s medical license and supporting certificates, which Mena failed to produce. Instead, she provided a censored and altered certificate of Phlebotomy. The victim contacted the issuing agency and learned the certificate had expired in February 2024.
