SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego Fire-Rescue crews responded early Thursday morning to reports of an explosion at a La Jolla apartment complex, where a set of lithium-ion batteries had caught fire.
According to Battalion Chief Jeff Phillips, firefighters were dispatched to the complex in the 7500 block of La Jolla Boulevard around 6:30 a.m. after receiving reports of an explosion and smoke. Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke in multiple first-floor units and immediately began searching the building.
