Neighbors frustrated over ongoing Toledo sewer collapse; city announces repair timeline

TOLEDO, Ohio — More than a month after a major sewer collapse on Arlington Avenue in south Toledo, city officials said repairs are still in the early stages. Full restoration may not be complete until late this year.

The collapse caused raw sewage to spill into local waterways, including Swan Creek, Heilman Ditch and Delaware Creek. The overflow led to elevated E. coli levels, prompting a public health advisory that remains in effect.

City crews installed a temporary 12-inch pump capable of moving more than 5 million gallons of sewage daily to help manage the overflow. The pump then failed less than a month after it was put into place…
