STORMTRACK 3 FORECAST:
Another day, another threat for afternoon and evening spotty showers/thunderstorms! Temps have risen into the 80s with dew points in the mid to upper 60s. A mostly sunny sky is expected to linger into the evening when stray showers and thunderstorms develop. No severe weather is expected. If one of these pop-ups moves overhead, a brief bout of heavy rain and a few rumbles of thunder are possible. Any thunderstorm will lose strength into the overnight. With some leftover shear remaining in our atmosphere, some storms may be able to hold on into early Thursday morning.
Speaking of Thursday, a more active stretch of weather is ahead to wrap up the work week. Stronger south winds will be pulling in increased levels of warmth and moisture into southeast Minnesota and North Iowa ahead of a passing cold front Friday afternoon/evening. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 80s with dew points spiking to the low to mid 70s Thursday. These two ingredients, along with a slightly stronger shortwave passing overhead, will allow for scattered thunderstorm development to occur during the afternoon and evening. A Marginal (level 1 out of 5) risk of severe weather is in place for our entire area. Damaging wind gusts of 60 MPH and quarter size hail will be the main threats with any isolated cell that develops. Storms should gradually taper off early Thursday night…
