‘A Lot of Zeroes’ – Louisiana Ticket Wins Big in Powerball

(Baton Rouge, LA) The Louisiana Lottery had better send in an order for more ink for the check-writing machine. It appears as though the Baton Rouge-based Louisiana Lottery is going to be writing another big check for a Powerball winner.

You may have heard that in Saturday’s Powerball drawing, a ticket sold in Lafayette, Louisiana, earned a Match 5 Million prize with Power Play to lay claim to a total prize of $2 million. According to the Unclaimed Prizes page on the Louisiana Lottery website, that $2 million prize has already been picked up. I can’t say that I would wait to do that either.

On Wednesday night, Powerball players were hoping to match five white ball numbers and the Powerball to claim the game’s top prize of $217.1 million. That’s just one of the nine ways you can win with Powerball, and while the Louisiana ticket didn’t win the jackpot prize, we can confirm the check they get will have a lot of zeroes on the good side of the decimal point.
