Madison man steals unicycle, liquor in downtown break-in

MADISON, Wis. — Madison police arrested a man late Wednesday night who they said broke into a downtown home and later spit on officers.

The 61-year-old man was found walking through the Buckeye Lot near the 200 block of West Gilman Street just before 11 p.m. Police said he was carrying a unicycle, a bag of tools, liquor and a bike lock. He also had a cut on his hand.

Officers recognized the man, who online court records show was charged with theft or criminal damage to property five times last month alone though most of those charges were dismissed.
