First phase of I-25 project completed in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The New Mexico Department of Transportation announced that phase one of the I-25 construction project in Albuquerque is finished. The $268 million project started nearly a year ago, reconstructing outside lanes on I-25 between Candelaria Road and Montgomery Boulevard, and also added new bridge sections over Comanche Road.

What’s the next step in the I-25 improvement project?

With phase two now underway, a lane shift will take place to allow crews to begin work on the middle of the interstate. Starting on July 12, north and southbound traffic will have to use the outside lanes, so drivers should expect delays. The whole project is estimated to take two more years, with the goal of improving safety and reducing travel times.
