New details: Carjacking suspect appears to be victim of online dating scam, police say

BURNSVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A Texas man arrested for carjacking and reportedly shooting at other vehicles during a multi-county car chase on July 7 was in the Burnsville area trying to start a relationship with a woman, according to the Burnsville Police Department.

Burnsville Police Detective Tyler Stockton told News 13 on July 10 that police conducted a “data dump” of the cell phone of Linc Nolan Bloomfield, 61. Stockton said Bloomfield left his cell phone in the vehicle that he “bailed out of at Ingles in Burnsville before stealing the car of an elderly man who was over 80 years of age.”
