Michael Angelo Crank, a 44-year-old Charlotte resident, faced the music of the justice system after his sentencing yesterday for unlawful firearm possession. Crank, with a rap sheet including assault and cocaine possession, has been handed a 51-month prison sentence followed by supervised release, as the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of North Carolina announced. U.S. Attorney Russ Ferguson spearheaded the announcement, supported by Alicia Jones from the ATF and Chief Johnny Jennings of the CMPD.
The case against Crank unfurled after an emergency call on August 15, 2024, when an individual, identified only as T.T., reported a firearm discharge during a heated argument, with young children present. CMPD officers executed a search and discovered stolen firearms, namely a 9mm Glock and a 9mm Hi-Point pistol, along with multiple rounds of ammunition. Home security footage added weight to the allegations, capturing Crank brandishing the weapon.
